GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

Twelve Days of Kitchens

Ready or not, Christmas is right around the corner, and truthfully, we’ve been playing Christmas music in the showroom for weeks now. Inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas, we have created our very own Twelve Days of Kitchens as a way to highlight a few kitchen projects that we’ve had the pleasure of working on this year as we come to the final days of 2024. If you have plans for remodeling in 2025, we hope this list provides you with your own kitchen inspiration!

1. Sophisticated Stone

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

First up, we have this elegant custom kitchen design with the most notable feature being the stunning natural stone countertops. The Taj Mahal Quartzite extends to the backsplash, creating a beautiful focal point along with the painted range hood and custom shelves with gold railing. The stone is paired with neutral-painted cabinetry that adds a little warmth and depth to the space. For anyone looking for a nice grey/beige paint color, Stone Hearth by Benjamin Moore might just be the perfect warm grey for your cabinetry.

2. Stylish Storage

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

With plenty of custom storage solutions and counter space, this kitchen optimizes functionality and does so with style. The open floor plan in this home allowed for quite a bit of cabinetry in the kitchen, including several rollouts, utensil organizers, and cookware organizers. Not to mention the large island that comfortably sits five, making it ideal for entertaining. Aside from functional components, the inset cabinetry makes for a clean look on both the painted perimeters and the stained island. If you’re on the search for a go-to white paint color, this one is Snowbound by Sherwin Williams.

3. Wooden Waterfall

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This jaw-dropping custom kitchen showcases stained cabinetry and quartz countertops with waterfall edges on both sides of the island. For those who have visited our showroom in Eureka, this kitchen cabinetry is the same wood species and stain as our front island, where we often host design meetings. It’s hickory wood with our Light New Walnut stain, which has quickly become one of our most asked-about stain colors. The wood is paired with matte black hardware and a few small touches of gold, blending cozy, warm tones with modern touches.

4. Kendall Kitchen

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This kitchen gets its name from the cabinet color which is Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore. The moody paint color, in combination with the deep wood tone, adds a unique touch to this bachelor pad and is contrasted with white backsplash tile and quartz countertops. The pantry storage is built into the kitchen design and eliminates the need for a typical corner cabinet solution. We also love how the range hood mimics the door style of the rest of the cabinetry, resembling an inset door front. The final touch of staining the barstools to match the wood accents on the cabinetry really pulls this design altogether.

5. French Flair

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

Inspired by the French countryside, this lovely kitchen design sets the tone for this charming home. The ornate wooden details mixed with sleek white cabinetry add a cozy yet luxurious feel to this space. The white paint color used here was Pure White by Sherwin Williams and it’s paired with maple wood in our Burlap stain. Aside from the gorgeous aesthetics, this cabinetry houses a plethora of custom storage solutions throughout the layout, including several rollouts, sheet pan/cutting board storage, and knife storage. The island is also decked out with a beverage fridge and ice maker. There is no shortage of functional features in this one!

6. Inviting Isles

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

Something about this kitchen has a way of pulling you in, and it may have something to do with the beverage station and comfortable island seating, inviting you to sit and stay a while. The two-toned painted cabinetry adds a nice visual contrast that is accented by touches of wood. The paint colors used here are Fleur De Sel by Sherwin Williams and Graphite by Benjamin Moore. There’s a nice mix of open and closed storage in this kitchen, with floating shelves in the corner as well as the beverage station, and the pocket doors that sit beside them offer more versatile storage that can be left open or closed.

7. Open Oasis

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

For those who love an open and airy feel, this kitchen is for you! Complete with plenty of storage space, curated shelving, and a custom quartz backsplash with a ledge, this kitchen is sure to impress. The perimeter cabinetry is painted in the same color as number one on this list, Stone Hearth by Benjamin Moore. The island, however, is stained with Grizzly on hickory wood. The Sereno Gold Quartz has become a popular choice for those who love subtle, warm veining. We even have it in our showroom kitchen in Eureka, Illinois!

8. Classic Charm

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This charming kitchen was a remodel project that included tearing down a wall to make way for the beautiful buffet area. Bright whites are incorporated into the warm woods, making for a comfortable and cozy environment. Black hardware is consistent throughout the space, blending the different sections of cabinetry together. The buffet area also features glass doors, which lighten up the feel of the cabinetry, which is especially great for tighter spaces. The kitchen is topped off with bright custom quartz counters.

9. Functional Flair

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This kitchen was also a remodel that involved moving some walls which created a much better flow and increased the storage space and functionality of this kitchen. A few custom drawers simplify the utensil storage and the pantry rollouts make for easy access to dry goods. Similar to our Light New Walnut stain but with a darker appearance, the stained cabinetry in this kitchen is our New Walnut stain. The white pairing is Matador White, which is custom to our cabinet shop. The quartz countertops are the same as our Eureka showroom island, which is Etude by Viatera.

10. Bold Beauty.

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This showstopper of a kitchen beautifully blends moody colors with bold furnishings for the ultimate kitchen makeover. There is no shortage of storage or counter space in this kitchen, and with seating for six, the whole family and/or guests can comfortably gather here without much interruption. The bright whites are balanced by the cool-toned deep paint color Cyberspace by Sherwin Williams. You might notice touches of a rich dark wood stain that is almost camouflaged by the painted lowers at first glance. The attention to detail in this design is evident in the wood features of the island and the custom range hood.

11. Warm Welcomes

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

This charming kitchen design is layered with warm touches through the wood tones and gold fixtures, creating a space that welcomes you in. The kitchen is topped with natural quartzite countertops which marry together the two-toned cabinetry elegantly. The stained upper cabinet features pocket doors with antiqued glass, achieving that unique, custom look. That cabinet, along with the island, is made from quarter-sawn white oak, which is a specific cut of the white oak species. The large panel-front fridge is also noteworthy as it blends into the cabinetry seamlessly, a choice that is becoming more and more popular.

12. Dreamy Design

GRAVEL LANE DESIGN - 12 DAYS OF KITCHENS

Last on our list but certainly not least, the new build project is the definition of a dream kitchen. Customized to fit the homeowner’s vision, this painted kitchen has Matador White perimeters with the island painted in Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams. The natural light floods in from the windows above the sink and illuminates the quartz countertops and gold fixtures. The wall tile blends beautifully with the white cabinetry for a polished look. Finally, the kitchen island adds a touch of drama to contrast the dreamy perimeters.
