Welcome to a home full of vintage charm with refreshing updates that feel purposeful, thoughtfully curated, and just as functional as they are beautiful.
This whole home was redesigned with the intention of preserving the integrity of the original home, while balancing the line between old and new. The clients saw this as their forever home, the backdrop for their lives and those of their loved ones for years to come. With the cabinetry and countertops throughout the home, we wanted it to be highly functional and to withstand the test of time, both in quality and style. A lot of rooms were gutted to reconfigure the layout, but we didn’t want the results to feel stale or unlivable. Instead, this home was rebuilt to age with grace and timeless beauty.
For this project, we worked alongside the contractor, Nello from Picchietti Designs, who helped bring this project to life and execute the vision! The photo below is of the kitchen during demolition, completed by Nello and his crew.

Starting off with the heart of the home, this kitchen is a blend of styles, incorporating both vintage and contemporary elements. The homeowner wanted cozy wood tones to create that inviting, nostalgic feel mixed with white cabinetry to keep it light. The furniture-style island paired with patterned pendant lighting is a nod to the cottagecore aesthetic, which is carried through the rustic decor.
As for the more contemporary elements, we have full-overlay cabinetry, sleek white appliances, and quartz countertops that extend to the backsplash. For more dainty details to love, we must note the reeded glass cabinets and thoughtfully selected hardware styles.
Right off the kitchen, we have this charming walk-in pantry with two-toned painted cabinetry. Centered under the archway is a thrifted light fixture sourced by the client to add a lived-in character to the space. The homey style continues throughout the rest of the decor, with open shelving and beadboard wall panels.
You’ll notice the arched cove repeating itself, connecting it to other parts of the kitchen design while keeping this space uniquely appealing in style. The space is also topped with quartz, a more subtle color than the kitchen’s to let the other features (like the gorgeous blue cabinet color) take center stage.
Moving on, the living room and powder bath were touched up with paint and a few new fixtures, as well as new flooring. As for our services, we looked toward the laundry room, providing cabinetry above the washer and dryer. The wall paneling is an ode to the original paneling throughout the home, and we absolutely love the checkered flooring in this space!
Speaking of checkered flooring, the primary bathroom continues the patterned tile, this time paired with stained wood cabinetry. The his-and-her vanities on either side of the soaker tub are topped with the same color of quartz as the kitchen and feature a custom backsplash detail. Also note the custom feet on each vanity, a handpicked detail that is further evidence of an intentionally catered style.
A few takeaways from this home remodel for those considering their own home renovation:
1. Design Based on What You Love, Not the Trend of the Week
It’s perfectly acceptable to incorporate popular design styles, but make sure you’re doing it because you love them and plan to keep doing so for the next several years.
2. Consider What to Keep and What to Update
Finding the right balance of working with what you’re given versus updating what will benefit you is a great skill to master when remodeling. Which parts can you keep to save some budget for the high-priority upgrades? Make a list of must-haves and would-like-to-haves to help you sort through what to focus on first.
3. Plan Your Space for How You Want It to Function.
If you host often, for example, you may want your kitchen to offer ample counter space and seating for guests. If you and your partner get ready at the same time each morning, having your own space is a must! Many design choices depend on how you live, so make sure to consider that!
4. Assemble the Right Team
This is a huge one! Going with the cheapest option might, unfortunately, lead to costly mistakes. Choose a contractor you trust, have seen examples of their work, and make sure to have a designer on your team to help bring your vision to life. These professionals should communicate effectively with you and each other so that, together, the project can be executed masterfully.
