3 Reasons to Remodel Your Bathroom

If you were asked to reflect on your favorite parts of your home, the bathroom might not be at the top of your list. Although bathrooms are essential to every home, they are often overlooked. It is natural to want to focus your home improvement energy on rooms that will get more attention like a kitchen or living room, but the truth is, bathrooms get a lot of traction!

We have recently completed several bathroom remodels and we can hardly believe some of the before and afters! If you’re on the fence about upgrading your bathroom, take a peek at some of our recent projects as we go through our top 3 reasons to remodel your bathroom.

1. Starting Small

If you are a remodel novice, the idea of gutting a room in your home might seem intimidating. It is easy to fixate on the mess, time, and money it takes to upgrade your home, not to mention worrying if it’s going to turn out the way you hope. While remodeling is of course a process, our clients always say that it’s so worth it! If you are concerned about starting a remodel but are motivated to update your home, the bathroom is the perfect place to start! Usually, bathrooms tend to be a bit smaller in square footage than other areas of a home, so it’s a great way to gain remodel experience without committing to a larger room like a kitchen, for example.

Additionally, a smaller room is often more affordable as it requires less materials. As opposed to a kitchen, most homes have more than one bathroom, so while one is under construction, you likely still have a functional bathroom to use for the time being. For these reasons, a bathroom is a great starting point to gain insight into what a home remodel consists of and can help you prepare for future projects.

2. Investing in Your Home Value

You may have heard the phrase “kitchens and bathrooms sell homes” and we would have to agree! While there are many factors that contribute to your home’s value, these highly used rooms are arguably the easiest to spot. An outdated bathroom is going to immediately go on the cons list for anyone interested in your home and be seen as something they will eventually have to fix. Alternatively, if you invest in updating your bathroom, not only will it avoid adding to the cons list, but you have the potential to gain a financial return if you are able to list the house at a higher price point.

3. Increasing Functionality

Aside from considering selling your home in the future, updating your bathroom can help you enjoy your home while you’re in it! You might think there is not much that can be done to increase the functionality of a bathroom, but we have seen it done repeatedly! Whether it’s getting rid of the tub and replacing it with a walk-in shower or adding cabinetry to increase your storage space, a bathroom remodel can really help your home function more efficiently. Even in small spaces, intentional design along with custom storage and finishes can transform your bathroom into a highlight of your home.
