Inspiring Ideas for Your Bathroom Design

If you’re thinking your bathroom needs a refresh, you’re in the right spot. Whether we are talking about a large primary bathroom or a simple guest bathroom, your space deserves to be designed with intentionality. As you gather ideas for your bathroom design, make sure to consider both functionality as well as visual style. One without the other simply won’t do, as you’ll be wanting to change the design all over again. Luckily for you, we’ve worked on several custom bathroom projects in the Central Illinois area and beyond, so we have compiled some of our favorite photos to help inspire your bathroom design. Read along as we discuss certain elements to consider while showcasing various style options.

An obvious place to start when customizing your bathroom is the vanity. There are endless options with styles, colors, and functional customizations that can take your bathroom vanity to the next level. First, consider the amount of space you’re working with which will determine the size of vanity and amount of storage space you’re able to include. With custom cabinetry, you can design your vanity with any dimensions as it doesn’t have to conform to any standard sizes. This gives you versatility with the size and design of your vanity. If space allows, we recommend opting for a double sink vanity in a shared primary bathroom so that it functions with ease.

Another way to increase functionality is by adding a makeup vanity and/or including custom storage solutions like a designated spot for heat tools or a built-in hamper! Consider adding extra built-in storage for towels and toiletries to utilize the space efficiently. Experiment with adding a mix of open storage for a unique option that allows your style to shine through.

Your countertop can also be stylized to your personal taste! There are several material options including quartz, natural stone, porcelain, solid surface, and more. Try choosing an interesting vein pattern if you’re looking to draw some attention, and make sure to view the color in a larger scale to ensure you like how it looks. You might also explore countertop options that allow for an integrated sink which gives a sleek and modern look that makes a statement. For an even more compelling option, try a single integrated sink with two faucets, otherwise known as a trough sink.

For a powder bathroom, a floating vanity could be a fun way to add an interesting touch in a smaller space. We are also seeing wallpaper make a comeback in smaller bathrooms as it’s the perfect place to experiment with a fun pattern without it being too overwhelming.

Speaking of pattern, bathroom tile is an easy way to incorporate different shapes and textures into the space to add some visual interest. Tiles come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. Even if you want a neutral tile, you can get playful with how you lay it to create a pattern in itself. Tile can be used both on the floor and on walls as well as the shower, so don’t be afraid to get creative!

Custom showers are also a great way to add a wow factor to your bathroom design. Just like custom cabinetry, custom showers can be fully customized to the exact dimensions you need with a variety of material and color options. If you have space for a walk-in shower, consider adding a bench and surrounding the shower with custom glass doors. If you enjoy having a double sink vanity, you might also consider double shower heads!

Seamless shower designs have been catching eyes recently because of their modern design and have the added bonus of avoiding grout lines, making upkeep easier. For a luxurious look, porcelain is your go-to for daring vein patterns. For a more cost-effective option, try solid surface which also has inconspicuous seams.

Lastly, make sure to pay attention to the details such as paint colors, hardware finishes, and lighting. All these elements should work together to create a cohesive design. If you’re worried about how everything will come together, rest assured as our team of designers is not only skilled in creating cohesive designs, but you can also view 3D renderings of your space so you can see it for yourself before committing to a final design.
